Our sweet girls

This week we got to see Aimee and Grace at 19.5 weeks along. They are beautiful! Because I constantly feel them moving it was no surprise that they are very active little babies. We were told that they are indeed little girls so we gave them their names. Twin 1 is Aimee which means "beloved." Twin 2 is Grace because we know that by His grace God is gently taking them from this life to the next.

It's bittersweet getting to see them. Their little bodies look perfect and all I want is to hold them up close and kiss their tiny cheeks. Aimee was rubbing her eyes with her little hands today which made us smile. Their feet are precious and perfect. The specialist told us that their long bones are still measuring short for their gestational age. This is pointing to a diagnosis of Thanatophoric Dysplasia, although the final results from our amniocentesis have not yet returned. If you're like me you'll look up the diagnosis but in short it means that the size of their ribs/chests will keep them from living in the outside world. Part of me really wants this painful time in my life to be over...to grieve and put it in the past. The more I feel them move around, though, the more I want the comfort of their presence and life within me forever.

We want to celebrate their life now so we will keep sharing their photos. Big sister Annelise LOVES to pull up my shirt and kiss the tummy or pound on it to make a funny sound. I hope Aimee and Grace enjoy this too. :)

  5. I have tears coming down as I read through your entries. From one mama to another my heart is aching and I am so sorry to hear about your sweet girls. You are so right about how lucky those sweet girls are to be warm and protected inside you, to get kisses from their big sister and get to hear their mom & dad talk to them. We will be praying for your family. And of course you look as beautiful as ever & I love the names you picked out, they are lovely. Love & Hugs from Spokane. Carolyn Hyslop

  12. Nana and papa love you all so very much, and precious little Aimee and Grace are safe, listening to and feeling the love you all have for them. That is what we pray that they will sense it so much and be held in the Father's loving hands~~ they will go from life to life and not have any pain~~ We are the ones left with empty and sad hearts at not being able to kiss them and give them our love. They will know perfect love from God Himself~~ each moment we pray God helps you Angela in this time of carrying them; our hearts weep and ache that you are going through this sad time. May He hold each of you close as only He can, and provide love to you through His people there~~ We love you~ tell Aimee and Grace that nana and papa love them~

  13. Another note from nana and papa~ we are praying for God to do a CREATIVE miracle, in causing their little bones to grow~ God says we can ask so that is what we are doing rather than resigning ourselves to the diagnosis, which we know can be nullified when God intervenes!!!. That is our fervent prayer, as with so many people we know; we do so leaving all in HIS hands knowing His love can sustain us as we wait in this time. May that grace be biggest in your life Angela, and may He help you and Jeffrey together in this journey~~~ We love you all!
